how it went down:

A friend of mine gave me this product and I was like... no way. This can not work. I was a little scared that it might give me spider legs... I love lush lashes...but not over volumized. My go to mascara is Sephora's Lash Stretcher mascara that already contains fibers, so I was apprehensive about using it with the DivaDerme, so I used MAC Cosmetics' Pro Lash, which is more of a basic mascara. I applied it to fresh, wet mascara by slowly moving up the lashes from root to tip. The first time I used it, I got fibers all over my face and into my eyes**. So on the next eye, I tilted my head down slightly and alleviated this problem. I also like to use a tissue under my eye to catch any runaways.

the verdict? This stuff is insane. I am an avid user of falsh lashes, and with this, I really don't need them anymore.

my tips:
Use on fresh wet mascara. Allow the first coat to dry with the extension on it before apply the next coat to seal them in, this way you don't pull any off with your brush while they are still wet.

For even more drama, place tissue under lashes and apply the fibers to the top of the lashes too! Absolutely ridiculous volume and length.

Try using a basic mascara like Great Lash or MAC's Prolash to avoid over-clumpiness.

worth it? definitely..it looks like the bottle will last a while and whatever you spend on it...you'll make up for it by not buying false lashes!

**I don't know if they claim safe for contacts, but I wear contacts and haven't had any issues.

so i totally suck at updating this blog...sowwwy. At any rate, I posted a new youtube vid tonite...not anything to jump over a chair for...I just wanted to practice making/uploading vids becaussssee....

I ordered a new Hi Def cam! Yay! So that means talky videos are a-coming. I'm hoping I can get a few Halloween Tutorials in before the big day. My plans are to recreate the tiger I did last year that was such a big hit and a few others that I have enjoyed doing in the past. I'm planning on doing some product reviews and basic stuff too...there's so many gurus on youtube and I don't want to do a bunch of stuff that's already been done..I mean, how many eyebrow tutorials do you really need? So I want to be totally different. If I can get away with it, I want to do some vids while I shop...but I don't want to get kicked out of CVS. Ha! Ok, well that's really all I wanted to say, I just felt the need to update. Oh! and here's a little tribal mask I did tonite, I saw a sweet facechart online and I had to recreate it..I tweaked it a bit for my own face shape. I looked crazed in this picture. Nite betches!

Beauty in a crunch

I swear if I hear the phrase "the current state of the economy" one more time, I'm going to punch an octogenarian, BUT it is true...bang bangs are in short supply right now. So, in the spirit of the crunch, I just wanted to share one of my favorite ways to scrimp on beauty supplies.

Hair Supply Stores

I'm not talking about Sally Beauty Supply, I am talking about the wig store-type shops, usually mom and pop owned. We have several in our area and I routinely comb them for goodies.

They usually have trendy jewelry for 1-2 dollars, but watch out for lead and nickel. If you have sensitive skin, you're going to want to make sure they say lead/nickel free.

I only buy my false lashes from these types of stores. They range from 1.99 to 3.99 and you can find dupes for most brands such as MAC, makeupforever, and shu. Here's a pic:

The singles were 1.99 each and the Vegas strip was 6.99. I wear just pieces on the ends of my lashes for everyday wear, so the long strips lasts me forever! The ones at the top are replicas of MAC #3 lashes.

You can also find nail polish in any color imaginable! I wish I had taken pictures in the store today, but they also had an enormous selection of those nail paints everyone is going nuts over now, the ones with the tiny brushes for nail art for around 2 dollars.

Naturally, the hair supply store is the optimal place for hair care and color. You can get your base color for around three bucks and a bottle of developer for the same. A bottle of developer will get you 3-5 applications. A lot of times, these stores have buy one get one on the base colors -so you can do at-home color super cheap!

If you are a budding makeup artist, these stores are a great place to stock up on cheap palletes and foundation colors. They also have funky colors, so you can try new looks without breaking the bank.

So check out your local Hair Supply Stores and see what great goodies you can find!

Hi all! Welcome to my blog for all things cosmetic, beauty, fashion and hliarious. It is my goal to do a new post every 1-2 days with tips, tricks, tutorials, and whatever else strikes my fancy. Just a quick bio: I have been obsessed with makeup and clothes from an early age, but never thought it would become a living for me. I have been in cosmetic retail for the past 5 years, but really started getting into makeup when I was in high school theatre. I am working on my youtube channel - shaunbeatsface there also - and will be posting real vids as soon as I find a camera that I think makes a quality video. For now, I will just be posting slideshows. So please feel to subscribe, rate, comment or what have you. I do not claim to be a guru - I can't stand that word. I am just a makeup artist with a passion for the industry.
